| A safe, sober place to live for Islanders in early
recovery from substance abuse |

How you can help
Please ask yourself: How much is a sober breath
worth? What is it worth to the one who draws it and to his or her family
and friends?
Your contributions fund the gift of sobriety
The gift of sobriety is priceless, but the cost of providing housing and
programs for 24 men and women in three old houses for one year runs to
$350,000. Our residents are required to pay a modest rent but even at
100% participation, our operating budget remains in excess of $250,000.
As we accept no state or federal funds and are therefore able to reserve
our beds for Islanders, we are completely dependent on donors like you.
There is usually a waiting list for beds in both of the men's houses and
in the women's house. It is an heart-wrenching moment for those of us
on the House Management and Screening Committees when we learn that someone
has relapsed while waiting for an opening. The exciting news is that Vineyard
House is well along in the planning of a beautiful new facility that will
almost double our capacity. We will break ground for this project in Spring,
2006, and you will hear much more of the Capital Campaign early in the
new year.
Donations allow the work to continue
For now, though, we ask you to be as generous as you can be so that our
staff and community of volunteers, including trained professionals, can
continue their work to help those who seek recovery.
A sober breath is a world of hope; it is the promise of a life second
to none. Your gift will help make this come true.
